Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Programmes to develop skills for unemployed youth and school dropouts through Vocational Training Programmes

 

ISTE National Executive Council has decided to set up ISTE-MICO BOSCH Occupational Training Centers in identified Engineering Colleges/ Polytechnics to develop skills among the youth, school dropouts and others through Vocational Training Programmes. Shri. K.P. Murthy, TVET Expert, Mico-Bosch, Bangalore has agreed to be the Strategic Consultant and will provide the details about the course contents, target group/level, equipment needed, etc. to undertake the above training programmes.

 

·         The objective of Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Programme is to impart skills through vocational training to yough/high school dropouts so that they become skilled and employable.

·         The vocational training may be provided in trades such as Carpentry, Electrician, Plumber, Auto-technician, Painters, Packages, Multipurpose Technicians, Masons, Dairy Assistants, etc.

·         The duration of the training programme may be of 2 – 3 months.

·         The resource persons for the programme may be drawn from rural engineering departments of state governments, faculty of engineering colleges/polytechnics/ITIs and others. The trainees may also be provided one or two week’s orientation program in relevant industries. 

·         Initially the TVET has to be self-supporting and institutions may collect nominal fees from the trainees. Later we may integrate the training programmes in collaboration and support through funding from departments such as Science & Technology/Industries/Rural Development/Labour of Government of India as State Governments as well as industries.

·         MICO BOSCH may also provide technical and professional support through their advanced training centers/laboratories. All trainees will be awarded joint certification from ISTE as well as industry partners

 

In the first phase for implementing the programmes, fourty-three institutions have been identified by the ISTE. The Chairmen of ISTE Sections have been requested to oversee and provide support to the functioning of the Occupational Training Centres (OTCs) situated in their respective Sections. For further details, you may contact the Principals of the listed institutions or Chairmens of the concerned ISTE State Sections. Institutes interested in establishing Occupational Training Centres (OTCs) may send their requests to the Executive Secretary, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi with copies marked to the Chairmen of the respective ISTE Sections.
